A woman has died following a collision in Tintwistle.
Police were called on Tuesday morning (22 March) at around 8.10am to reports of a serious crash on Valehouse Way, which is on the new housing estate just off New Road.
A Derbyshire Police spokesperson told us: "The woman was in collision with a car, thought to be her own vehicle.
"The car went down an embankment and the woman died at the scene.
"Specially trained officers are supporting the woman's family at this time.”
Eyewitnesses say the car was stopped by a tree on the embankment down to the Etherow river.
The road was closed for several hours.
