Glossop Community Allotments was left reeling after a devastating break-in last Wednesday evening, July 2nd. Thieves ransacked the site, making off with every valuable item they could find including essential power hand tools and even the group’s Bluetooth speaker used for playing music.
The theft has dealt a heavy blow to the community groups that rely on the allotments. These groups provide vital support for adults facing disabilities and social isolation, offering gardening, woodworking, and benchwork activities that serve as a lifeline for many.
“All of our tools are gone,” said Dave from the allotment group. “We use them every day to help people learn new skills and connect with others. Now, we have nothing left.”
Glossop Community Allotments operates entirely on funding and donations, with no extra resources to replace the stolen equipment. The group is now urgently appealing for support to help them replace the stolen items and continue their important work.
