Off-road bikers fined for breaking Covid lockdown rules

Three off-road bikers who travelled more than 20 miles from Manchester to use the disused quarry in the Harpur Hill area of Buxton have been fined.

Buxton Police's Safer Neighbourhood Team say officers caught the trio on Monday evening (15 February).

Fixed penalty notices for breaching Covid-19 lockdown rules start at £200 in England.

Reminding people to follow the lockdown rules, they added: "Remember we are still in the middle of a pandemic! So non-essential travel is not allowed. This includes coming over to our area for off-roading!

"We must Stay Home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives!"

The quarry has made headlines before when the pool, known locally as the Blue Lagoon, has been dyed black in a bid to deter people from swimming in it.
