After over a year away from the ring, High Peak boxer Jack Massey will return to action this weekend as he takes on Argentina’s Ivan Gabriel Garcia in Derby.
The Chapel-en-le-Frith born fighter is the heavy favourite going into Saturday’s 10-round cruiserweight clash, as he looks to get back on track after defeat to Aussie Jai Opetaia last time out.
Massey suffered the first stoppage of his career in last October’s bout in Riyadh, which saw his opponent pick up the IBF cruiserweight title.
This defeat marked only the third of the 32-year-old's career, having been victorious in the other 22, with 12 of those wins coming by way of knockout.
As for Massey’s South American opponent, he enters the bout off the back of defeat to Frenchman Leonardo Mosquea, which took his record to 10 wins, four losses and one draw.
Fans will be able to watch the former IBO world champion in action from 8pm on BBC Two, with the pair set to walk out at the Valliant Live Arena from 7:30pm.
