High Peak MP welcomes Comprehensive Spending Review

Jon Pearce MP for High Peak

Jon Pearce has welcomed the Comprehensive Spending Review saying it will put more money in the back pockets of High Peak residents.

The review was delivered by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves on Wednesday 11th June 2025.

Speaking about the review, Jon Pearce MP said: “In yesterday’s spending review, the Government showed that we are serious about investing in Britain’s renewal. That we’re serious about safeguarding the security, the health and the economy, so families across High Peak are better off.

The decisions made in the spending review have only been possible because of the difficult choices we made in the Autumn Budget.

That Budget fixed the foundations; now we’re investing in Britain’s renewal.

We’re seeing record levels of cash invested in our National Health Service, delivering more appointments and providing High Peak residents with more efficient, productive and high-quality care.

More money will be in people’s pockets by delivering on the commitment to upgrade millions of homes through the Warm Homes Plan and by investing in renewable energy projects all across Britain, bringing bill bills down.

The Government is investing in future generations by providing record investment into training and apprenticeships, delivering transformative nurseries funding and putting money in to fix our crumbling classrooms.

And finally the potential of the North will be unlocked by delivering on the ambitious plans for Northern Powerhouse Rail and £2 billion will be invested in the East Midlands for road, rail and bus improvements across our region.

When the Conservatives and Reform would gamble with Britain’s future, it is the Labour Government that’s protecting and investing in it.”

Whilst delivering the Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR) in the House of Commons Rachel Reeves MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer, said: “We are renewing Britain, but I know that too many people in too many parts of our country are yet to feel it. This Government’s task, my task as Chancellor, and the purpose of this spending review is to change that - to ensure that renewal is felt in people’s everyday lives, in their jobs, and on their high streets.

The priorities of this spending review are the priorities of working people: to invest in Britain’s security and Britain’s health and to grow Britain’s economy so that working people are better off.”
