Celebrating the Mayor's milestones

As his year as Mayor of High Peak draws to a close, Cllr Dom Starkey is inviting residents to join him to celebrate the year and support his chosen charities.

A Civic Service will take place on Sunday 29th March at 1:45pm at Dinting Church, offering a special opportunity to reflect on the past year and thank the many individuals and organisations who have supported the mayoralty and the local community.  

Following that the Mayor’s Civic Ball promises a glittering evening of entertainment and fundraising on Friday 24th April at Glossop Cricket Club. Guests can look forward to a three-course meal and live entertainment from award-winning band Swing & Some.

The Mayor is also currently in training for another big challenge - the Manchester Marathon on Sunday 19th April. He will be running the 26.2 miles to raise money for his three mayoral charities. He told us: 

“These charities provide vital support for families and mental health services, and people’s generosity will help them continue their important work. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a real difference - and I’ll think about that when the legs start hurting around mile 20!”

The Mayor and his Consort, Cllr Jean Wharmby, look forward to welcoming residents from across High Peak to these events, celebrating the community spirit that makes the High Peak so special.
