Young fundraiser Freddie steps up to support homelessness charity

A young fundraiser from Denton has set his sights on the summit of Snowdon to raise funds for homelessness charity Emmaus Mossley.

Seven-year-old Freddie is gearing up for a sponsored hike up Snowdon with his family on Saturday 19 September. Freddie, who loves a challenge, was keen to do something positive to help people affected by homelessness and found out about Emmaus Mossley.

 Freddie commented: “It makes me sad to see homeless people and I wanted to help in any way I could.”

 Emmaus Mossley is a local charity that helps to empower people to overcome homelessness for good. Freddie and his family recently visited Emmaus Mossley’s residential community that provides people the foundation of a home and life-changing tailored support.

 Nestled in the Tame Valley, Emmaus Mossley’s residential community is home for up to 26 people at any one time. Whilst at Emmaus, each person is supported to build their confidence, self-esteem, skills and work experience to achieve their goals.

 Darren, one of the residents supported by Emmaus, said: “Freddie’s support is an outstanding piece of generosity. The money raised will go towards our building and living areas which need some TLC. A huge thanks to our little super-hero and all who support his fundraiser for Emmaus.”

 Funds raised from Freddie’s challenge will go towards Emmaus Mossley’s plans to improve the community building and facilities. 2027 marks the 30^th anniversary of Emmaus Mossley and the team has ambitious plans to build upon what has already been achieved.

Freddie set an initial fundraising target of £500 which he exceeded in only four days. He has now increased the target to £1,000 and is appealing for more people to sponsor his hike.
