Winter warmer packs and weekly warm hub launched to support residents

Residents in Tameside, Oldham and Glossop are being invited to access practical support this winter through a new Winter Warmer Packs initiative and a welcoming Winter Warm Hub, aimed at helping people stay warm, connected and supported during the colder months.

The scheme allows local residents to choose up to five items from a range of winter essentials, designed to help ease the impact of cold weather and rising living costs. Items available include blankets, hot water bottles, de-humidifiers, gloves, hats, socks and warmers.

Alongside the Winter Warmer Packs, a Winter Warm Hub drop-in is also being launched, offering a friendly space for people to come together, enjoy a chat and connect with others in the community. Free hot drinks will be available.

The Winter Warm Hub will run every Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm, starting on Wednesday 10 December, and will continue weekly until the end of February 2026.

Both the Winter Warmer Packs and the Warm Hub are available at the Ashton Wellbeing Centre, located at 216–218 Katherine Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, OL6 7AS. Residents can simply visit the centre and speak to the welcome team to access a Winter Warmer Pack.

The initiative is delivered by Mind – Tameside, Oldham, Glossop and Stockport, with the aim of supporting wellbeing, reducing isolation and helping residents stay warm and well throughout the winter season.

The team they would have had to displace from the play-off spots (there was only one) was Salford City.
