To close Mental Health Awareness Week services and advocates gathered at Dukinfield Town Hall to showcase the support available in Tameside.
The Anthony Seddon Fund was proud to host the fourth annual Tameside Mental Health and Wellbeing Conference, held on Saturday 17th May at Dukinfield Town Hall.
This free, inclusive event brought together over 25 local organisations from across the borough, united by a shared commitment to improving mental health and wellbeing in Tameside.
Now in its fourth year, the 2025 conference placed a focus on women’s mental health, with a powerful speaker line-up covering topics such as premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), the menopause, domestic abuse, and personal experiences of inpatient care. These talks generated a rich, vibrant exchange of insights and lived experience.
“It was really important to hear the personal stories shared by one of the speakers. It gave the session so much power and meaning.”
“Really enjoyed it. Thanks to all of you at The Anthony Seddon Fund for organising it.”
As well as the speaker sessions, the marketplace event featured stalls and resources from a wide range of community organisations, offering practical support and advice to attendees. The event also included wellness activities such as guided meditation, Reiki, and hand massage.
“What a fantastic event! Thank you so much for inviting me.”
“Another fantastic event. Well done for making it all happen.”
The event’s success reflects the ongoing efforts of The Anthony Seddon Fund to provide community-led support for those affected by mental health issues in Tameside.
“We’re incredibly proud of what we achieved at this year’s conference,” said Ben James, General Manager at The Anthony Seddon Fund and organiser of the event. “It’s a testament to the power of partnership, lived experience, and grassroots action. A huge thank you to our speakers, stallholders, volunteers, and everyone who attended for making it such a positive, meaningful day.”
Andy's Man Club Tameside also joined the dedicated network of mental health service providers and advocates.
Oggie the Viking Biker, the area lead for Andy's Man Club Tameside, told us: "After attending the Anthony Seddon Fund’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Conference, I walked away feeling deeply inspired, reminded of the power of community and collaboration. The commitment in the room to real change, real support, and real conversations was undeniable. Massive congratulations to every organisation that contributed to the success of the day.
"A few standouts that deserve special recognition: Jo Gray at Empowered to Thrive – a force of energy and empathy, driving trauma-informed support and real personal empowerment. Dr Rod Waddington, tireless Dukinfield advocate – your voice continues to challenge stigma and uplift so many. Family Bereavement Services from Bowley & Sons Funerals – providing compassion where it's needed most. The team at Bridges Partnership – standing strong for those affected by domestic abuse and delivering vital support services.
"Together, we’re building a network that ensures no one walks alone. At Andy's Man Club, we say "It’s okay to talk", but days like this show it’s more than a slogan – it’s a movement."
