Two teenagers arrested after masked men force entry to Audenshaw home

Armed police were deployed to Audenshaw on Friday afternoon following reports of three masked men forcing entry to a home with a machete.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said officers were called shortly after 3.00pm on Friday 13 February 2026 to West View, Audenshaw, following reports of an aggravated burglary.

A member of the public contacted police after three men, described as wearing dark clothing and face coverings, were seen attacking the address with a machete and forcing their way inside. The property was occupied at the time.

Armed officers arrived within minutes. As it was initially unclear whether the suspects remained inside the house, officers carried out a swift assessment of the property before confirming the men had already fled the scene. An extensive search of the surrounding area was then launched.

Around 40 minutes after the initial report, officers located two 17-year-old males matching the description outside Hooley Hill convenience store, less than a third of a mile from West View.

Both teenagers were arrested. One has since been released on bail, while the other remains in custody for further questioning.

Police say the motive for the attack is still unclear and enquiries are ongoing. At this stage, officers do not believe there to be a wider threat to the community.

Detective Chief Inspector Abdul Kahar, from GMP’s Criminal Investigations Department and Intelligence Unit, said: “Incidents involving knives, burglary, or any kind of threatening behaviour are completely unacceptable and have no place in our community.

“We understand how concerning events like this can be, and I want to reassure residents that your local neighbourhood officers will be in the area over the coming days, providing a visible presence, offering support, and ensuring you feel safe.

“Our investigation is on-going, and officers are working tirelessly to piece together exactly what happened.

“We are determined to identify everyone involved, and anyone responsible for bringing fear or harm to our streets will face the consequences of their actions.

“Keeping our communities safe is our absolute priority, and we will continue to work closely with residents to maintain that safety.”
