Tameside Council have launched new Walking in Tameside events — a series of guided walks through some of the borough’s most beautiful and historic landscapes!

Whether you're up for a challenging moorland ramble or a gentle countryside stroll, there's something for everyone.

The upcoming events are:

  • Sunset on Ridge Hill, Thursday 29 May 2025, 7.30pm – 9.30pm

See the setting sun on this two and a half mile gently paced walk.

  • Millbrook Heritage Trail, Sunday 17 August 2025, 12noon – 4pm

For National Heritage Week, explore the history of the growth of Millbrook and the decline of the cotton industry on a two-mile walk.

  • Hike to the Pike and Back, Sunday 28 September 2025, 9.30am – 4pm

An 11-mile strenuous ramble with steep hills to Hartshead Pike returning via Quick Edge & the Lower Tame Valley.

The walks are led by local expert Paul Nethercott, and are the perfect way to explore, learn, and breathe in the fresh air of Tameside’s green spaces.
