There was plenty to celebrate this week at Space Station Nursery in Droylsden as the popular early years setting marked its 8th birthday with a fun-filled party, and the exciting news of a glowing Ofsted report hot off the press.
On Wednesday 17th July, the nursery hosted a joyful day of celebration to mark the milestone. Children and staff enjoyed classic party games including pin the flame on the rocket, pin the tail on the donkey, and a lively round of pass the parcel, all rounded off with a delicious buffet.
The birthday festivities came with an extra helping of pride, as the nursery team also shared the outcome of their recent Ofsted inspection, which took place on 24th June. Inspectors rated Space Station Nursery as “Good” in all areas.
Feedback from the Ofsted report praised the nursery for its attention to detail and high-quality learning environment, with highlights including:
"Attention to detail helps staff form habits that promote a high-quality learning environment."
"Staff know the value of working in partnership with parents that promotes continuity in children's progress."
"A joined-up approach promotes children's well-being, they settle quickly, ready to learn."
"There is an open and positive culture around safeguarding that puts children first."
Nursery Manager Kim Dewar expressed her pride in the team’s achievements, saying: “As a manager, I am extremely proud of my team for all we have achieved over the years. It takes a special kind of person to work in early years, and I'm lucky to have a team that shares my vision in creating a fun, safe, and quality learning environment for all the children in our care. We’re looking forward to seeing what Chapter 9 brings us!”
Over the past eight years, Space Station Nursery has gone from strength to strength, including the launch of The Launchpad, an additional preschool room that has enhanced their provision for older children. The nursery also remained open throughout the challenges of the 2020 pandemic, quickly adapting their operations to continue supporting local families during uncertain times.
In addition to their educational success, the nursery has also made a significant impact in the wider community, raising thousands of pounds for charities including the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. They’ve also earned recognition for their healthy and child-friendly menus and continue to receive high praise in online reviews from parents and carers alike.
With a successful inspection, strong community ties, and a clear passion for early years development, it’s clear that Space Station Nursery is setting its sights high as it heads into its ninth year.
