No further action will be taken against a 49-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Royton on Sunday (March 8).
This decision follows a forensic post‑mortem and a full investigation into the circumstances, which concluded that there was no evidence of third‑party involvement or suspicious circumstances in the death of the 48‑year‑old man who was sadly found deceased at an address on Higginshaw Lane.
The scene on Higginshaw Lane, Royton, has been closed and an inquest will be held at a later date.
Detective Inspector Rachel Smith from the Major Incident Team (MIT) said: “Our thoughts remain with the loved ones of the man that died at this incredibly difficult time.
“We recognise the concern this incident may have caused within the local community, and we want to reassure residents that following a thorough investigation, we have found no evidence of third‑party involvement or suspicious circumstances.
“We hope this provides clarity and reassurance, and I would like to thank the community for their patience and co-operation throughout our enquiries.”
