Sunshine, sand, and spectacular entertainment are set to take centre stage this summer as Tameside Council launches a packed school holiday programme featuring a pop-up beach, theatre in the park and a host of family-friendly events.
Tameside Council has put together their extensive and exciting summer guide which includes lots of free or low-cost activities and events, so all residents can get involved. There is a wide variety, ensuring there is something to keep children entertained all summer long.
Theatre in the Park brings classic theatre shows with a twist, to parks across the borough. Expect hilarious performances based on popular titles such as Old McDonald, as well as new shows such as The Circus Runaways. All performances have two show times at 11am and 2pm to suit residents. More information is available on all performances and locations.
Children can have the opportunity to take part in fantastic and interesting crafts in our outdoor spaces. The Outdoor Arts sessions will take place in a range of parks and green spaces, offering hands-on arts and crafts workshops.
Portland Basin Museum is also hosting an Our Museum Day on Thursday 30 July 11am-3pm, for a day to celebrate Tameside’s wonderful and unique museum. This is a free, family-friendly event day, packed full of fun activities relating to Tameside’s local heritage. The much-loved Make, Do, Play sessions will also continue taking place throughout the holidays.
The Family Arts Jam is an exciting, full day event on Wednesday 12 August ,11am - 4pm, in Hyde Park. Led by a diverse and talented group of experienced artists and workshop leaders, there will be something to spark creativity and imagination in visitors of all ages. Residents can also enjoy Theatre in the Park and Outdoor Arts sessions at the event.
Further additions to the programme will be announced, including the return of the Pop-up Beach in Stalybridge.
This is alongside the usual exciting calendar including Stalybridge Street Fests, Super Saturdays, Mossley Farmers Markets and Artisan Markets.
