More than 700 residents turned out to explore new career opportunities at Tameside’s Spring Jobs Fair.
The event, organised by Tameside Council’s Employment and Skills team, took place at Dukinfield Town Hall on Wednesday 1 April and brought together a wide range of employers, training providers and support services.
Spanning three halls, the fair gave attendees of all ages the chance to meet employers face-to-face, learn about different sectors and even apply for jobs on the day. Many visitors also discovered new opportunities they may not have previously considered.
Alongside job vacancies, a number of training and support organisations were on hand to help people take the next step in their employment journey. Advice was available on CV writing, job applications and interview techniques.
The free, drop-in event proved beneficial for both jobseekers and employers, with organisations including Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, Tameside Music Service, Hyde Group, Smart Works, The Job Gym, local colleges and various council teams hosting stalls.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with visitors describing the event as having “lots of variety”, being “very well organised” and staffed by “kind and informative” people.
Jill Colbert, Tameside Council’s Strategic Director of Children’s Services, said: “It’s fantastic to see so many residents engaging with the opportunities available across Tameside.
“Our jobs fairs help people take real steps towards their future – whether that’s securing a new job, accessing training, or building confidence.
“We’re proud to support our community in finding pathways that help them thrive.”
The Jobs Fair is held twice a year and will return in the autumn, offering further opportunities for employers and jobseekers to connect.
In the meantime, residents can contact the council’s Employment and Skills team for further support.
