Halloween revellers urged to 'think green' when putting up spooky decorations

Tameside Council has asked  citizens to Think Green while decorating houses during Halloween.

As part of the Think Green initiative, the council has announced a Recycle Week from October 14-20.

The theme for the recycle week this year is going to be “Rescuse Me” - focusing on rescuing items heading for the refuse bin.

The Council has encouraged its citizens to use Natural resources and other reuseable products while decorating houses for the Spooky season.

In an attempt to give everyone a chance to celebrate halloween, the council has announced distribution of  Halloween costumes from Dukinfield Library on Saturday,  October 12, from 10am-noon.

The staff at the Dukinfield library will also be hosting a stories and craft session, from 11am-11:30am.

Tameside Council executive member for Climate Emergency & Environmental Services Cllr Denise Ward said: “I think this is a wonderful opportunity for friends, families and neighbours to get involved in thinking green for this Halloween.

“It’s giving everyone a chance to make small changes that collectively make a big difference to our environment, all whilst having fun in getting creative!”
