A local breast cancer support group founded by two friends has raised an incredible £5,500 for charity through their very own “Calendar Girls” style project.
Bosom Buddies, a Tameside-based group run by friends Lindsey and Janet, was formed after the pair met through their breast cancer diagnoses in 2023. The two quickly realised there was a need for a smaller, more personal support network for people in the area who were going through similar experiences.
The group now provides a safe and welcoming space for both women and men in Tameside who have a past or current breast cancer diagnosis. Members meet regularly to share experiences, offer advice, and simply enjoy each other’s company.
Earlier this year, Bosom Buddies decided to take on a bold fundraising challenge: producing a ‘Calendar Girls’ style calendar to raise money for two vital local causes - the Tameside Macmillan Unit and Prevent Breast Cancer.
With help from local businesses, the project became a community effort. Glow Up Studio treated the participants to a day of pampering before their photo shoot, while Spectrum Innovations printed the calendars at cost.
The group raised over £5,500, which will be split between the two charities to support people affected by breast cancer in the local community.
