Ashton site manager scoops prestigious national award

Lee Lister, site manager at Narrowboat View in Lymm.

A site manager from Ashton-under-Lyne is celebrating after being honoured with one of the housebuilding industry’s most prestigious accolades.

Lee Lister, who is currently overseeing work at Bellway’s Narrowboat View development in Lymm, has been awarded a Quality Award in the National House Building Council’s (NHBC) annual Pride in the Job competition.

Chosen from a pool of more than 8,000 site managers across the UK, Lee is one of just 450 winners this year – placing him firmly among the elite in his profession.

This marks the second time Lee has received the award during his career with Bellway, a recognition that highlights both his consistency and leadership in delivering high-quality new homes.

Speaking about the win, Lee said: “I am over the moon. It’s wonderful to have won my second Pride in the Job award. Narrowboat View is a fantastic site, and I have a fantastic team of tradesmen behind me. Bellway have been so supportive too.

“The Pride in the Job award means so much as it such a prestigious industry award. It is the first time my assistant site manager, Lee Roberston, has been involved and he is thrilled that his hard work and commitment has contributed to the win.”

The Pride in the Job awards involve a rigorous judging process, including unannounced inspections and assessments across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.

Thomas Chadwick, Construction Director for Bellway Manchester, praised Lee and his team for their dedication: “As you can see from the number of sites that are judged nationally, winning this award is no mean feat. The NHBC Quality Award is recognition of a job very well done and is universally respected throughout the construction industry as a mark of distinction.

“Lee and his site team should be incredibly proud of this achievement. It is a real testament to their hard work, commitment and attention to detail not to mention the extremely high standards that we set for ourselves throughout the business.”

Lee will now progress to the next stage of the competition, the NHBC Seal of Excellence and Reginal Awards, which are set to be announced in the autumn.

Narrowboat View is a beautiful semi-rural development close to Lymm village, offering a range of three and four bedroom homes. For further information, call 01952 924 250 or visit www.bellway.co.uk/new-homes/manchester/narrowboat-view
