13 year old from Ashton donates 52cm of hair to support children in need

Daisy-Leigh with her 52cm of hair!

Daisy-Leigh braved the big chop of over half a meter of her hair for charity.

In a heartwarming act of kindness, 13-year-old Daisy-Leigh has donated 52 centimetres of her hair to The Little Princess Trust, a charity dedicated to providing real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair due to cancer or other illnesses such as alopecia.

Daisy-Leigh has a rare chromosome disorder which has resulted in severe special needs, making her journey through life uniquely challenging. Despite her difficulties, Daisy-Leigh has shown incredible strength and kindness, inspiring her family and community.

The decision to cut her hair was not easy for Daisy-Leigh. She had only had her hair cut once before, when she was in reception at school.

Daisy-Leigh doesn't like people touching her, making the idea of a haircut particularly daunting. However, her mum and family took the time to explain to her that her act of kindness could help children who are going through difficult times, like fighting cancer or dealing with alopecia.

Daisy-Leigh’s grandma Vicky told us how her and Daisy-Leigh’s mum had to keep having conversations to reassure her: “Myself and her mum talked to her and said if she had her hair cut it would help special children like her, and we kept saying to her 'are you having your hair cut to help them special boys and girls?' And in the end, she said yes.”

In addition to donating her hair, Daisy-Leigh also raised over £600 to support The Little Princess Trust. Her contribution will help provide real hair wigs to children and young people in need, giving them a boost of confidence during difficult times.

Daisy-Leigh had her big haircut done at Gemma Louise Hair in Dukinfield.

Daisy-Leigh’s story is an inspiring reminder of the importance of supporting others, especially those facing health challenges.

The family hopes Daisy-Leigh’s story will encourage others to think about how they can make a difference, no matter how young or how small the gesture may seem.

Congratulations to Daisy for braving the incredible hair cut and for making a real difference in the lives of others.
