Parkbridge

Band of the week on Tameside Radio's LocalMusic Spotlight are Parkbridge. The band are no strangers to Tameside Radio, having appeared on Alan Ovington's popular Wednesday night Rock show 'The Rock Zone' in the past.

Coming together through a shared love of classic rock, folk rock and blues, and influences such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Fairport Convention and Free, Parkbridge are a four-piece band from around Greater Manchester, and consist of singer and guitarist Robert Carter from Swinton, guitarist Sean Dyer from Manchester, drummer Dave Johnson from Stockport, and bass player Ian Turford from Ashton Under Lyne.

The band’s name comes from the area of Park Bridge, which is on the outskirts of Ashton-under-Lyne, where the band was originally conceived. Parkbridge formed as a band in 2022, though all four members had been playing in separate local bands for many years. But after some informal jam sessions working on songs that had been written by vocalist and guitarist, Robert Carter, Parkbridge rapidly evolved into the fully-fledged respected band it is today.

After a series of well-received live gigs, work soon began on putting the band’s debut album, 'Rivets For The Eiffel Tower' together. The album was produced by Buzz Hawkins at Hawkins Studio in Mossley, and was released on 17th November and is available now on both CD and digital formats. 'Rivets For The Eiffel Tower' is a collection of eight original tracks, and is a mixture of acoustic, rock, folk-rock and blues music. Parkbridge will be played on every weekday show on Tameside Radio between 6am and 7pm all of next week.

The band also joined the team on The Dave Sweetmore Show last Monday night, you can listen again via the OnDemand section of the website.
