An ornamental cherry tree has been planted at the Youth and Community Centre in Hyde.
The tree was planted by Tameside Young Carers to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of the Queen.
Teagon Forbes and Fergus Penney planted the tree representing the 480 young carers in Tameside.
They were watched by other young carers and staff.
Also attending were trustees of Friends of Tameside Young Carers, who had organised and funded the event.
Special thanks go to DB Garden Nurseries, Hyde, for sourcing and delivering the tree, plus to Tameside’s Operation and Greenspace Department for preparing the ground in readiness for the planting and to Brian Travis for preparing the plaque holder.
Friends of Tameside Young Carers was set up in 2008 to support young carers in Tameside aged eight to 18 years of age by enabling them to access recreation, sport and leisure time activities so that they are able to enjoy the same experiences as their peers.
