Willow Wood Hospice Walk returns with heroes and villains theme

Willow Wood Hospice is inviting the community to unleash their inner hero or villain as its popular Hospice Walk returns for a second year.

Following the success of last year's inaugural event, the family-friendly fundraiser is back on Sunday, 13th September at 12pm with an exciting Heroes and Villains theme.

Kindly sponsored by Inology IT, a fun-filled 5k walk around Stamford Park, the boating lake and Chadwick Dam on the Stalybridge-Ashton border lies ahead for people of all ages.

Whether you choose to dress as a superhero, a fairytale favourite, a comic book villain or simply come dressed in your comfiest walking clothes, every step you take will help the Hospice continue providing compassionate and dignified care to patients with any life-limiting illness from Tameside and Glossop.

All you have to do is sign up, get sponsored and come along on the day to enjoy the scenic route – after which you’ll receive a medal and certificate. Children will also receive a fun activity booklet and get a special extra treat.

To sign up, it’s £12 for people aged 16 or over, £6 for children under 16, and £30 for a family (two adults and two children).

When you’ve secured your place, you’ll be sent a fundraising pack with tips and a sponsorship form. The Hospice’s Fundraising team is also on hand to support if fundraising feels challenging.

For those looking for a tougher test of endurance, the Hospice is also recruiting fundraisers for its Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday, 10th October.

Participants will take on one of the UK's most iconic walking challenges, conquering Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough across a demanding 24-mile route through the stunning Yorkshire Dales. Guided by experienced mountain leaders, the aim is to complete the route in 12 hours.
