Warm Welcome Hubs return to support Tameside residents this winter

As temperatures fall and worries about rising energy bills persist, Tameside Council has once again reopened its network of Warm Welcome Hubs to support residents through the colder months.

These hubs, located in venues across the borough, offer free, safe and friendly spaces where people can spend time, connect with others and access a range of useful facilities. Many hubs provide amenities such as free Wi-Fi, computer access, books, and places to charge mobile devices. Some also run regular activities and can signpost visitors to local support services.

The Warm Welcome Hubs form part of the council’s wider Helping Hand initiative, which brings together support for residents experiencing cost-of-living pressures. Open to everyone, the hubs are especially valuable for those who may feel isolated or simply need a warm place to spend time during the day.

Hubs can be found in every area of Tameside, including libraries, community centres, churches and other community venues. As each location offers something slightly different, residents are encouraged to check the Warm Welcome Hubs webpage for opening times and details of available facilities at www.tameside.gov.uk/warm-welcome-hub.

Councillor Taf Sharif, Tameside Council’s Executive Member for Population Health and Wellbeing, said: “We know that winter can be a difficult time for many, especially with the ongoing cost-of-living challenges. Our Warm Welcome Hubs offer more than warmth; they offer friendship, connection and support. We’re incredibly proud to work with our community partners to create these spaces of kindness and comfort across Tameside.”

Residents are encouraged not to face winter alone, find your nearest Warm Welcome Hub and drop in for a friendly hello, a warm drink or simply a place to relax.
