As Infection Information Prevention Officer at Tameside Hospital, Vicky Jordan's job is to support the team in the important work they do in helping to keep patients safe by communicating best ways to prevent infections.
But her colleagues say she does so much more, and because of her dedication and hard work they’ve nominated her for a Who’s Your Hero Award.
Lead Nurse, Yvonne Doherty, who made the nomination, says Vicky goes out of her way to help minimise workload and leads projects with little support but always in an enthusiastic and positive way.
Vicky, 33, who lives in Droylsden with husband Paul and their two-year old son, Noah, has been at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT for eight years and says she loves her job because it’s varied and she gets to work with a great team of people.
Away from work, Vicky loves to socialise with family and friends and is lucky because she has both sets of parents living close by.
She explained: “I work four days a week so I can spend some time with Noah when he’s not at nursery.
“I consider myself so fortunate because I feel valued and that what I do makes a difference.”
Trust Chief Executive, Karen James OBE, said that Vicky clearly demonstrates the behaviour and values that make for an outstanding colleague.
“The Corporate Nursing and Governance team is accountable to patients and the community for assuring the delivery of health services that are safe, effective, high quality and continuously improving.
“Vicky’s colleagues clearly see in her someone who goes the extra mile to support this important work, and I am delighted to present her with this prestigious award.”
