Police have been granted extra powers after two men were taken to hospital when police responded to reports of 'a machete attack' on a road in Droylsden.
Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to 'a disturbance' in the vicinity of Cemetery Road Metrolink tram stop, on Manchester Road, at around 4.25pm on Thursday afternoon (8 June).
A GMP spokesperson said two men were taken to hospital with injuries to their legs, which are believed not to be life-threatening.
No arrests have been made at this stage and enquiries are ongoing, they added.
An eyewitness reported seeing a heavy police presence and ambulances in attendance at the scene.
A section 60 is currently in place in the area and remains active until 6pm on Saturday evening (10 June).
The section 60 authority - which grants officers extended powers to stop and search individuals within the defined area - has been introduced following recent incidents of violent crime in the past week in the area and surrounding areas.
