Local charity The Shed Tameside is opening its doors to the public with a series of open days aimed at attracting new members and showcasing its expanded facilities.
Since relocating to Units 3 & 4 Dukinfield Parade in August 2025, the organisation has enjoyed a spacious new home that offers more room and opportunities for users than its previous base at The Together Centre on Birch Lane.
The Shed’s open days will take place on the following dates:
- Saturday 31 January, 10:30 am – 2:30 pm
- Wednesday 4 February, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
- Thursday 12 February, 6:30 pm – 8:30pm
- Saturday 14 February, 10:30 am – 2:30 pm

The award-winning charity, recipient of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2022, offers far more than just woodworking workshops. Its new space provides a warm, safe, and welcoming environment where members can cook, socialise, and share experiences.
Volunteer and Trustee, Mike Barlow, said: “We’re very hopeful that we’re going to have a much wider non-woodworking activity than we had in the past”.
