A teenager has been charged with a series of drug and driving offences after a police chase through Hattersley.
Greater Manchester Police Tameside's District Tasking Team were on patrol in the Hattersley area on Monday (10 January), looking for a stolen Honda Civic.
Officers came across the vehicle on Stringer Avenue and a pursuit ensued, with the Civic reaching speeds of 70 miles per hour in a 20mph zone and going through red lights.
Police say the Civic was eventually abandoned when the driver attempted to go off road and got stuck in mud.
Officers pursued both the driver and passenger as they made off on foot, with the driver being detained in a nearby garden a short time after, having discarded a 'large quantity' of class A drugs.
He was arrested for numerous offences and taken into custody.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was interviewed by officers from GMP Tameside's Serious and Acquisitive Crime Team.
He was subsequently charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs, possession of class B drugs, aggravated taking without consent, dangerous driving, having no licence, having no insurance and failing to stop for police.
The teenager was remanded in custody to appear at Tameside Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (11 January).
