Teenager arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of possession of class B drugs in Hattersley.

The 17-year-old boy, who hasn’t been named, remains in custody, say Greater Manchester Police.

His arrest came as officers took part in a planned warrant on Friday morning following a number of what police describe as knife-related incidents.

It’s one of 14 so far this week - which is the first week of Operation Sceptre.

It's seen officers conducting weapon sweeps and working with schools in an effort to reduce knife crime across the borough.

Police will continue to provide targeted patrols and more in the coming weeks.

Another arrest in relation to Operation Sceptre in Tameside this week saw an 18-year-old man arrested in connection with a moped being stolen at knife point on a canal tow path in Ashton.

He was later released by police under investigation.
