Tameside Rotary has thanked Willow Wood by presenting the hospice with a £200 donation.
The cash boost was Rotary’s way of saying thank you for performances by the Mossley Ukulele Group and Willow Wood Choir at Rotary’s Beer Festival, held at Stalybridge Civic Hall toward the end of last year.
Rotary President Mohammed Karim attended the hospice’s Garden of a Thousand Lights, held at the Ashton-based hospice, to present the cheque to Mark Llewellyn, Vice Chair and Trustee at Willow Wood.
John Capper, of Mossley Ukulele Group, is a volunteer at Willow Wood and said he would dearly like any donations Rotary made to go to the hospice. John is pictured receiving the cheque. John advises anyone wishing to join Mossley Ukulele are more than welcome and no audition is required.
On the evening, Civic Mayor of Tameside Cllr Mike Glover attended and it was very appropriate that Mike featured in the official photograph as he was one of a handful of the founders of the Beer Festival when Ashton Rotary held the initial event.
This year Tameside Rotary celebrated the festival’s tenth anniversary.
Upon making the presentation, President Mohammed recognised the amazing work that Willow Wood Hospice undertakes for the whole community.
