Tameside-born pop star Shayne Ward has been announced as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
Thirty nine-year-old Shayne, who was born in Hattersley will dance alongside stars such as Toyah Wilcox and Sarah Hadland in the new series of the show.
Shayne, who attended primary school Arundale Primary School, before his family moved away when he was 10, said: "I'm no stranger to live TV, but dancing Latin and Ballroom in front of millions is a whole new level.
"No promises on my dancing ability, but I will give it my best shot!"
He shot to fame when he was victorious in the second series of the X Factor.
His debut single, That's My Goal was released after his 2005 win and was the Christmas number one, selling more than 313,000 copies in its first day of sales, making it the third fast selling single of all time in the UK.
After releasing three albums he starred as Aidan Connor in Coronation Street between 2015 and 2018.
