Tameside dance group strive to reach Britain's Got Talent final

ROYAL HOPE: PixieBelle and some of the 'PixieBelles' at Tameside Radio.

Tameside-based dance group The Pixiebelles are hoping for your vote as they head into Friday's Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals.

For the ultimate reward of winning the popular television show watched by millions is a chance to perform in front of King Charles III.

The young dancers are aged just six to nine years old and came together as friends in support of PixieBelle Sykes from Ashton.

PixieBelle was diagnosed with a rare tumour behind the eye when just five years old.

She bravely endured four operations, gruelling chemotherapy treatment and lost sight in one of her eyes, but she has never stopped smiling.

Last year, as we previously reported, she was awarded a prestigious Pride of Manchester award.

Her treatment continues but one of her dreams was to appear on Britain’s Got Talent - with her friends rallying round to ultimately make that dream a reality.

The PixieBelle’s performed a rendition of the song ‘Be Our Guest’ from ‘Beauty and The Beast’ which pulled at the heartstrings of the audience, leaving proud parents in tears and ending with a standing ovation.

The talented group immediately won over the judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli, receiving a big ‘Yes’ from all four and qualifying for Friday night’s semi-final.

The group have had to rehearse a new routine for the show and will head to London to perform in the live show staged at the Fountain Studios in Wembley, London. Two acts from the night go through to the final.

However, they need your vote on the night, and to support them you can download the BGT app or go online to vote for this heartwarming group.

The PixieBelles visited the Tameside Radio studios this week to share their success with presenter Martin Emery.

PixieBelle said: “My favourite part about performing is being part of a team and everybody has got each other’s backs.”

Her proud mum Katie said: “It brings me to tears when I sit and think about what they have all achieved and the reasons behind it all are really emotional and we are just so proud of them all.

“They have worked so hard to get where they are now and they have been rehearsing for about six months.

“We all knew Britain’s Got Talent was going to be amazing to see and be part of but when we were there it was beyond that expectation.

“All the mums were screaming and in tears - at one point Simon Cowell turned around and asked us all to calm down but we said we just couldn’t.”

Katie said the children looked a little nervous before they began but produced their best ever performance.

“As soon as they were on stage and the audience was there they did exactly what they set out to do.

“It was incredible because the stage was huge and they were performing to thousands in the audience.

“Now they’ll just need votes, votes, votes tomorrow to go through to the final.”
