Ashton-under-Lyne Brass Band are celebrating after being victorious at the 2022 North West Regional Championships.
Under the direction of Martyn Evans, the band took first place in the First Section of the championships at the Winter Gardens on Sunday 27 February, following a two-year Covid forced absence.
The band took to the stage early having drawn the dreaded number "1" starting off the day's proceedings.
However, a fine performance of Gilbert Vinter's "Spectrum" found favour with the adjudicators, who rewarded the band with a clear first place and an invitation to represent the North West Area (and Tameside) at the National Finals in September.
