Ashton is preparing for one of its most ambitious community celebrations yet, as Street Life returns for its 4th edition on Saturday, 6th June and this year promises to be bigger, bolder, and more imaginative than ever.
Running from 10am until late across Market Avenue and surrounding streets, the free, all-ages festival will transform the town centre into a vibrant hub of sport, music, film, and live entertainment. The event is designed to showcase the very best of Ashton while reimagining what the town centre can offer.
Among the headline attractions is a special appearance from England football legend Sir Geoff Hurst, who will be “coming home” to take penalties on Market Avenue in a unique fan experience. The day will also mark the unveiling of a brand-new World Cup Fan Zone, adding a sporting centrepiece to the festivities.
But football is just one part of the spectacle. Visitors can expect everything from a towering ten-metre Stay Puft Marshmallow Man to life-sized dinosaurs roaming the streets, alongside cosplay groups bringing iconic characters to life.
The programme features a packed schedule of entertainment, including a BMX show, live performances from singers, bands and DJs, and interactive workshops for all ages. Film and television fans can enjoy displays of movie props and cars, while younger visitors can take advantage of free face painting.
Food and drink will also play a major role, with local traders, street food vendors and cocktail stalls lining the avenue. Organisers say the event is as much about supporting local businesses as it is about entertainment.
Described as “a celebration of creativity, local talent and pure imagination,” Street Life aims to highlight Ashton’s potential as a cultural destination. With no tickets required and no entry fee, the festival is expected to draw large crowds from across Greater Manchester and beyond.
With celebrity appearances, immersive attractions and a festival atmosphere running throughout the day, Street Life 4 is shaping up to be a standout moment in Ashton’s calendar and a bold reminder of the energy and spirit at the heart of the town.
