A much-loved Stockport bakery has confirmed it's bringing its Polish-inspired bakes to Stalybridge – and it's now looking for local tradespeople to help make it happen.
Sticky Fingers, which has grown from a Market Hall stall into one of Stockport's best-known independent bakeries, has confirmed that Stalybridge is the location for its next venture.
In September, owners Adrian and Klaudyna Koss sparked speculation after sharing a photograph outside a vacant former café premises on Melbourne Street in Stalybridge.
“Where would you like to see us next?” the couple asked followers.
They then added: “And why exactly Stalybridge?” before signing off with the tantalising message: “Stay tuned, Staly.”
Now the Stockport business appears to be taking the next steps towards making the move a reality, with a call-out for tradespeople to get involved with the work needed to transform the premises.
It comes as Sticky Fingers continues a remarkable expansion that began with a stall in Stockport Market in 2022.
The business, founded by husband-and-wife team Adrian and Klaudyna, has built a loyal following for its Polish-style pastries, breads and cakes, including its distinctive giant brioche-style bakes and yeast cakes filled with vanilla cottage cheese.
Klaudyna's background as a pastry chef and Adrian's previous career as a lorry driver might seem an unlikely combination, but the pair have turned Sticky Fingers into a rapidly growing independent food business.
Their first permanent Stockport premises, at 39 Great Underbank, opened in November 2025 following almost a year of renovations.
The three-storey bakery and café gave the business considerably more room to work, with customers able to eat in while watching the bakers at work.
Now, less than a year after opening that larger premises, the business has its sights set on the other side of Greater Manchester, with its Stalybridge branch due to open "hopefully at the beginning of 2027".
The owners have now put out a call to local builders, joiners, electricians, plumbers, decorators, and other skilled tradespeople to play a part in bringing another independent business into the town.
Stalybridge town centre is currently undergoing its own programme of change and investment, with new bars and restaurants such as The Secret Garden and Café Continental drawing people in.
A new Sticky Fingers venue would bring the Stockport bakery's distinctive mix of fresh baking, coffee, and café culture to a new audience – while giving Stalybridge another independent name to add to its increasingly varied town-centre offerings.
