Families across Tameside and Greater Manchester are being invited to enjoy a free day of entertainment as Stamford Park’s popular Spring Family Fun Day returns next month.
Taking place on Sunday 26 April from 12 noon to 4pm, the annual event promises a packed programme of activities for all ages, set against the backdrop of the park’s Victorian surroundings as the tulips come into bloom.
Visitors will be able to explore a wide variety of stalls hosted by local charities, community groups and council teams, including libraries, culture, community safety and fostering services.
A range of free activities will also be on offer throughout the day, including walkabout performers, face painting, arts and crafts, a birds of prey display, a climbing wall, inflatable axe throwing and inflatable archery. The ever-popular RSPCA fun dog show will also return, giving four-legged friends a chance to get involved.
To support healthier communities, the event will once again be smoke-free, with public health representatives on hand to provide information and advice.
Councillor Laura Boyle, executive member for environmental services and neighbourhoods, said: “Spring Family Fun Day is one of those events that brings the community together. Year after year, it offers people of all ages a chance to spend quality time outdoors, try something new and enjoy a fantastic mix of activities without worrying about cost.
“We’re proud to offer a free event that is full of energy and fun, and we look forward to seeing residents and visitors join us for a great day out.”
Due to limited parking around the park, which is largely residents-only, visitors are encouraged to travel by public transport, bike or on foot where possible. Pay-and-display parking will be available on Darnton Road for £1 for those travelling by car.
