Tameside's Mayor has spoken of her shock at the damage caused by the tornado which tore through Stalybridge.
She described it as 'one of the worst weather catastrophes' to have affected the area.
Mossley councillor Tafheen Sharif said: "In these difficult times, I am so grateful that each and every person, including my own family and neighbours, are safe and that there have been no casualties.
"I have heard first hand just how scary the tornado was, with some fearing for their lives.
"I send my strength, love and best wishes to all those affected by the terrible damage left to homes and the area.
"This must be one of the worst weather catastrophes Tameside has had to deal with.
"I am hopeful there will be a speedy resolution to help those in need."
