An innovative centre for the community is putting the produce from their allotments to good use.
Dukinfield’s Together Centre, based at Loxley House on Birch Lane, is an inclusive charity providing meaningful opportunities for local families and communities in Tameside and Greater Manchester.
Volunteers there have been busy growing fruit and vegetables to help the community.
Centre manager Leanne Bold said she was proud of the incredible work taking place on the centre’s allotments by the Together participants and volunteers.
She said: “It’s absolutely wonderful to see the Dukinfield community coming together and giving their time so freely to help support the charitable services of The Together Centre.
“The fruit and vegetable seeds planted within the allotments are harvested by the community and placed within The Together Centre’s new Food Pantry - a brand new free service where Tameside families can come along on Fridays between 9.30am-12.30pm, to collect a food parcel.
“This service is available for everyone, helping to tackle the ongoing crisis. The support they are receiving from their community family is just amazing.
“It is safe to say the delicious lunches provided by The Together Cafe, in partnership with Active Tameside, with a warming cuppa, was definitely deserved! Well done and a very big thank you for helping to provide a meaningful service for all - The Together Centre can’t wait for what spring will bring next!”
You can visit The Together Centre, Monday-Friday 8.30am-3.30pm. For more details on the activities at the centre, visit their Facebook page.
