A performance academy in Ashton is putting on a show to raise money for the support and encouragement of children in the creative arts.
Sophia Clegg, 19, founded Silver Lining Academy of Performance in April.
The community interest company is unique and unlike a business it exists to benefit the community and operates for public good.
To extend places to children that aren’t as financially secure, the Academy have planned a fundraiser for Saturday July 24. The event, held at Hurst Cross Community Centre, is free to attend and runs from 11.00am - 4.00pm.
There will be fundraising activities such as face painting, tombola, lucky dip, guess the sweets in a jar and a raffle, alongside performances from students of Silver Lining.
Sophia added: “I’ve always wanted to be a teacher, so Silver Lining Academy is really a chance to reach children from every background and let them enjoy creative arts.
“We do classes in ballet, song writing, musical theatre and much more. There really is something for everyone. The children have the chance to make friends, have fun and build their confidence. I’ve seen so many of them progress and feel empowered.”
