Royal Mail workers were back on strike on Wednesday in a continued dispute over pay and working practices.
Members of The Communications Workers’ Union are taking the action - and locally workers have been on the picket line at the Denton Royal Mail delivery office on Saxon Street.
Further strike action is planned for tomorrow (Thursday), next Friday (9 December) and Sunday 11 December plus closer to Christmas.
Royal Mail says it has offered an enhanced pay deal of nine per cent over 18 months and a number of other concessions to terms and agreements.
However, the Union states the offer still represents a ‘real-terms pay cut’ amid a cost of living crisis.
Royal Mail has apologised to customers and offers the following advice:
• Post items as early as possible in advance of the strike dates.
• Continue to post your items at Postboxes or Post Offices, however collections will be less frequent on days when strike action is taking place.
Royal Mail says it will continue to provide services, but usual services will inevitably be affected by the strike action.
