Round-up from Tameside Magistrates' Court

These are some of the final cases heard at Tameside Magistrates' Court before it closed until further notice.

Scores of cases had been put on hold before the court’s closure.

Defendants who were to appear at the court were informed that due to the current coronavirus situation, the court is only dealing with urgent case work.

Defendants were therefore instructed not to attend the court and informed that they would be contacted to confirm arrangements for the hearing of cases on another date.

Tameside Magistrates’ Court has given Oliver Mountfield a suspended jail sentence.

The 32-year-old, of Hawthorn Road, Droylsden, pleaded guilty to charges of  being in possession of a folding pocket knife and stealing items from an individual.
