People are being warned that a main road in Stalybridge will be partially closed next week.
Stamford Street will be reduced down to one lane in both directions outside West Hill School from 9.30am on Monday (13 January).
The work will take approximately five days to complete.
Tameside Council's Highways department say it is due to an electric fault which needs repairing urgently.
Motorists and commuters are warned to expect delays, particularly during the rush hour, throughout the week and are advised to use an alternative route where possible.
