In his penultimate Reporter column, the departing Vicar of Mossley pays tribute to charities and groups he's been closely involved with during his time in the parish.
New starts beckon - next Sunday (30 January) will be my last day as Vicar of Mossley and for the past few weeks, as we all do when endings approach, I’ve been looking back.
There’s lots to give thanks for, and I’m so grateful to have been called to serve here since September 2016.
In this penultimate article, I want to pay tribute to the charities and groups I’ve been most closely involved with.
Our schools are the jewels in Mossley’s crown and I’ve been humbled to become part of these special communities - I pay tribute here once again to the children, staff, governors and families of our schools, and all the amazing work they do.
Our care homes are also incredible and special places, and in this time of Covid-19, with you, I thank all those who work in the NHS and caring professions, in hospitals, hospices, surgeries, care homes and across the community.
Working with Emmaus Mossley, the Town Team, Mossley AFC and so many others across the town has been a real joy - so much good work, so much solidarity (to steal an Emmaus term) with those in need, and so much time and effort being spent to make Mossley a better place.
As I begin my final week here, thank you, all of you for all you are and all you do.
