A police presence is in place amid reports of a body being discovered in the Ridge Hill area of Stalybridge.
A witness stated that the body, which has not yet been formally identified, was found this afternoon on a footpath leading from Springs Lane to open fields.
Police have cordoned off the footpath. The road has remained open.
