Emergency services were called to Stalybridge after reports of a grenade being found.
Greater Manchester Police said they were called just before 11.25am on Monday morning (9 January) to reports of a grenade found on Cheetham Gardens, off Warrington Street.
Officers attended and a suspected historic grenade was found on arrival.
A cordon was in place at the location and EOD officers attended to make an assessment of the item, alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
