Christmas came early for children at Inspire Academy in Ashton when they enjoyed a visit from some real reindeer.
Peering into paddocks on the front lawn, the children learnt facts about the animals through educational talks from their keepers. They even had the chance to hold a pair of reindeer antlers.
Northwest Reindeer Hire, a family-run business and based in Greater Manchester, had brought the animals to the school.
Their reindeer originate from Finland but adapt easily to the UK climate. They also took along some donkeys that dressed up for the occasion in Santa hats and tinsel.

Many of the pupils loved it so much they drew pictures of the visit and took the magic home to mums and dads.
Teachers said the visit had gone brilliantly with the children loving the opportunity to see the animals.
