Longdendale High School is closed after a power cut struck the Spring Street site this morning.
Pupils and teachers, who were due to begin their first full week back after the summer break, have been sent home for the day.
“Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have no power in school today (Monday 9th September),” said a message posted on the school’s website.
“We are therefore closed to staff and students. Students should check their Class Charts account. New students, including those in Year 7 without a Class Charts account should check their school email accounts. Thank you.”
Class Charts are where Londgendale’s teachers assign homework to students, so pupils will still be expected to work from home.
There is no news yet as to when power will be restored.
