A visit to Daisy Nook House in Ashton proved a major milestone for Tameside councillor John Taylor.
The Bamburgh Drive site was the twentieth visit in his ongoing tour of Tameside's care and nursing homes.
Cllr Taylor, Tameside Council’s executive member for adult social care, homelessness and inclusivity, launched his initiative in the summer with the intention of calling at every care home in the borough as a personal thank you to staff for the work they do - especially during Covid.
He is also visiting home-care providers to learn about the difficulties they face in looking after the 1,000-plus people who need support to remain living in their own homes.
Cllr Taylor, who was joined by Cllr Jackie Lane, the council’s assistant executive member for housing, housing standards and social inclusion, said: “I want social care staff to know the work they do is valued not just by myself but the whole of Tameside Council.
“Their role was highlighted during the lockdowns but, even as the pandemic subsides, their work remains every bit as important. I want them to understand they have our full support.”
