Motorists in Tameside are being urged to take extra precautions following a spike in car thefts in the area.
GMP Tameside South & West team say that 40 vehicles have been reported stolen across the borough this month.
Those responsible seem to be targeting German manufactured vehicles including Audi, Mercedes, BMW and VW.
Posting to social media, police said: "Be reassured that your Neighbourhood Policing teams are actively working to identify those responsible.
"Until the offenders are identified, ensure your vehicle is not left unsecure for any length of time, taking additional security precautions if possible, including the use of steering locks and keeping your vehicle keys in a safe place.
"If you see someone acting suspiciously on your street, report it to us via 101. If you see a crime in progress, call us on 999."
