Armed officers were deployed after police were called to a report of concern for the welfare of a man in Mottram.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said the force was called at around 7.55pm on Tuesday evening (28 June) to an address on Hyde Road.
They added: "Due to some of the information provided in the report, some armed officers were deployed to the scene to allow the man to be seen safely by paramedics to be assessed."
Six rapid response vehicles and an ambulance were witnessed at the scene.
