Police were called to a report of concern for the welfare of a man in the Newton area of Hyde on Thursday evening (13 October).
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said the force was called shortly after 6pm to a report of concern for the welfare of a man on a bridge on Commercial Brow.
They added: "Officers were able to safely return the man home and appropriate plans are being put in place to ensure the man receives the right support."
A large police presence was witnessed at the scene.
